My Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

Ingredients
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened 3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar (light or dark) 2 large eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Directions

Preparation:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

Mixing the Dough:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  2. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; this can make the cookies tough.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips until they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Shaping and Baking:

  1. Drop rounded tablespoons of cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Make sure to leave some space between each cookie as they will spread during baking.
  2. You can use the back of a spoon or your fingers to slightly flatten each cookie if you prefer a flatter shape.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges of the cookies are golden brown. The centers may still look slightly undercooked, but they will continue to cook as they cool.
